AGFUND and CAWTAR Sign Two Development Agreements to Strengthen Arab Women’s Economic Empowerment and Support Institutional Building
His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of AGFUND’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR), signed two cooperation agreements with CAWTAR yesterday. The agreements aim to advance their joint efforts in promoting the role of women in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting economic empowerment, and supporting the Center’s institutional building.
The two agreements were signed on the sidelines of the 25th Board of Trustees meeting of CAWTAR, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz. The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Asma Jebri, Minister of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly of Tunisia.
The first agreement, titled "Institutional Building Support for the Arab Women Center for Training and Research (CAWTAR) for 2025," aims to support the Regional Financial Literacy Excellence Center (RFLEC)—a unit of CAWTAR—and enhance economic empowerment opportunities for women through income-generating initiatives.
The second agreement, titled "Empowering Women in Vulnerable Situations to Improve Their Social and Economic Status, Enhance Agricultural Contributions, and Tackle Climate Change Impacts," aims to be implemented in Tunisia, Senegal, and Jordan through using sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
This project is part of the broader developmental vision of both AGFUND and CAWTAR, and extends their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, as well as the outcomes of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which was hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Dubai in 2023.
This collaboration reflects the ongoing commitment of both AGFUND and CAWTAR to advancing women’s causes and promoting inclusive development through strategic partnerships aimed at creating sustainable impact, strengthening community capacities, and addressing development challenges in the region
