AGFUND Announces The Winners Of Its International Prize, 2013 In The Field Of (Fighting The Phenomenon Of Street Children)

(Marketing of Homemade Products) Subject for AGFUND Prize 2014 The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) announced the winners of its International Prize for Pioneering Human Development Projects for the year 2013 in the field of (Fighting The Phenomenon of Street Children) . These projects were approved by the Prize Committee in its Fifteenth Meeting, which was held in in Montevideo – Uruguay on Tuesday 26 November 2013, under the chairmanship of Mrs. Mercedes Menafra de Batlle, Member of AGFUND Prize Committee, on behalf of HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz, President of AGFUND. The Committee also approved (Marketing of Homemade Products.) as subject for AGFUND International Prize 2014. The Committee approved three winners from among 105 projects submitted for the Prize from 61 countries in four continents. The winner of the First Category Prize (US$ 200,000), which is allocated for projects implemented by UN, international or regional organizations is The ChildSafe Network Project Implemented in Cambodia by Friends-International Organization. The Second Category (US$ 150,000) allocated for projects implemented by NGOs was approved for the Kidshaven (Child and Youth Care Centre) implemented by Kidshaven NGO in South Africa. The Fourth Category Prize (US$ 50,000) specified for projects by was approved for the Recnowa Initiative implemented in Ghana upon the initiative and effort of Mr. Kwaku Kyei. Meanwhile, The Third Category Prize (US$ 100,000), which is allocated for projects by governmental bodies and public institutions, was withheld due to the fact that the submissions for this category prize did not meet the Prize conditions. It is worth mentioning that the qualified nominations are evaluated by referees, who are prominent experts in the Prize fields. The evaluation process is undertaken biased on the criteria specified in the Prize statute. The Prize Committee membership comprises a number of renowned world figures representing the world regions, namely: Mrs. Mercedes Menafra de Batlle, Former First Lady of Uruguay, and President of Honor of the All for Uruguay NGO, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Founder and of Grameen Bank, Chairman of Yunus Centre and Noble Peace Prize Winner 2006 and Dr. Y. S. Abdulai, former Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development.
