AGFUND announces beginning of nomination period for its international prize in the field of “Alleviation of unemployment among youth “.

The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) announced the start of nomination period for AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering Human Development Projects. The theme is “Alleviation of unemployment among youth”. AGFUND invited the UN, international and regional organizations, ministries and public institutions, NGOs, universities and research centers around the world to submit their nominations for the Prize, which worth US$ 500,000 (Five Hundred Thousands American) allocated for the four categories of the Prize. Selection of this subject for the Prize, AGFUND aims to pinpoint distinguished development experiences in the field of youth empowerment though creation of income resources, improvement of their livelihoods and participation in development of their communities. The Prize subject is subdivided to cover the four categories as follows: •FIRST CATEGORY : (US$ 200,000) Innovative projects in support of the developing countries’ programs & polices to alleviate unemployment among youth (For projects implemented by UN, international or regional organizations( •SECOND CATEGORY: (US$ 150,000) Innovative projects to alleviate unemployment among youth (For projects implemented by national NGOs( •THIRD CATEGORY : (US$ 100,000) The governments’ role in emplementing programs & polices aiming at empowering youth and alleviating unemployment among them through innovative projects (For projects by ministries and public institutions( •FOURTH CATEGORY: (US$ 50,000 ) Individual-led initiatives for local community development through innovative projects for youth employment (For projects initiated, sponsored and/or implemented by individuals) Files of the nominated projects are to be sent to Information Department, Prize Secretariat, AGFUND. The nominations are evaluated with complete fairness and clarity by experts chosen every year according to their specializations and experience in to the Prize subject. The Prize Committee is composed of a number of prominent international figures who represent the geographic regions of the world. The Committee holds an annual meeting in which it discusses the evaluation results and selects the winning projects. The Prize is handed over in an annual ceremony attended by the representatives of the local and international organizations, development experts, diplomats and media representatives.
