Under The Patronage of King Mohammed VI Rabat hosts AGFUND Prize Award Ceremony

Under the high Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), Rabat hosts AGFUND Prize ceremony during the period 12-14 January 2015. Preparations are underway in both Riyadh and Rabat for this occasion. AGFUND Prize ceremony, which acquired a universal reputation in the development arena for the prize objectivity and for being a unique forum where four development sectors are honored, namely the UN agencies, NGOs, the government sector and individuals. It is the first time for AGFUND to hold its Prize Award Ceremony in the kingdom of Morocco. In the ceremony, the winning projects of AGFUND Prize in the field of “Marketing of homemade products” will be honored and Rabat will also witness the 16th Meeting of AGFUND Prize committee, in which Subjects of AGFUND Prize 2015 and the winning projects of 2014 will be announced. AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering Human Development Projects, which was established in 1999 by the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), aims to support the distinguished efforts aiming at developing and promoting the concepts and dimensions of human development, highlight the best practices in development, which aim to improve the living conditions of the poor and the disadvantaged with particular emphasis on women and children and disseminate and circulate the successful development experiences and enhance their exchange to develop better mechanisms to find solutions to the problems of poverty, marginalization and socioeconomic exclusion of vulnerable groups. AGFUND Prize total amount is US$ 500,000 distributed for the four categories. The first category, which worth US$ 200,000, dedicated for the projects implemented by UN agencies or international and regional NGOs, the second category worth US$ 150,000 for projects that are funded, designed and implemented by national NGOs, the third one, which worth US$ 100,000 for projects that are funded, designed and implemented by government ministries and public agencies and the fourth category, which worth US$ 50,000 for projects implemented upon initiatives and efforts of individuals. Each year, the Prize Committee selects the thematic focus for the Prize, taking into account the diversification and non-repetitive of themes. The objective is to highlight the innovative experiences and to continuously support the distinguished efforts in various field of development. The Prize themes always focus on the promotion of human knowledge in the field of human development and its proper management. An international team, consisting of qualified experts evaluates the projects nominated for the AGFUND Prize.
