AGFUND organizes an international symposium in Morocco… on the financial and social inclusion for the poor
Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) Organizes a symposium, in Rabat-Morocco, titled “Financial Inclusion and Human Development: Social and Economic Empowerment of Marginalized People.” The symposium will be held in Mohammed VI Convention Centre on Monday, January 12th, 2015. This symposium comes in the framework of the events of AGFUND International Prize for Human Development pioneering projects, to be hosted under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the presence of Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz, President of AGFUND.
The symposium aims to exchange experiences, learn from successful models, and seeks for creating new mechanisms to raise the human development challenges. The symposium also will discuss the experience of AGFUND in establishing banks for the Poor r in 9 countries, along with reviewing the experience of the National Initiative for Human Development in Morocco, as well as the experience of Microfinance institutions in Morocco and other countries.
The symposium will discuss mechanisms to deal with the phenomenon of street children, and expected to come up with recommendations for the benefit of this group of children, including the design of financial and non-financial products in order to integrate them financially and socially.
AGFUND used to organize such symposiums, seminars, conferences and workshops associated with the AGFUND International prize events, highlighting the developmental issues that constitute the pillars of its strategy
Among the most prominent participants in the symposium, Professor Muhammad Yunus, , the spiritual father of Microfinance , Nobel Prize Laureate for Peace, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain, and Mr. Larry Reed, the Director of the microcredit Summit Campaign, Supporters of the concept of “social business”, and representatives of the media.
The symposium also will be attended by representatives of the Moroccan development agencies, civil society organizations, microfinance institutions, Moroccan government agencies, as well as members AGFUND Board of Directors, members of AGFUND Prize committee , representatives from AGFUND sister organizations/institutions, winners of AGFUND Prize ,evaluators of the Prize , representatives of international and UN organizations.
