UNOG hosts AGFUND International Prize

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Talal bin Abdul Aziz On 20 April 2017, the United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland hosts the event of AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering Human Development Projects under the patronage of HRH Prince Talal bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND). During the event  the winning projects in the field of “ Alleviation of unemployment among youth” , will be honored. The Prize committee meets in Geneva on Tuesday (April 19th) to announce the winning projects in the field of “Empowerment and social integration of Refugees and internally displaced people” .

AGFUND has sent the invitations to the development agencies and diplomatic missions in Geneva and the media to attend the  the celebration that will be held within   the  5th AGFUND Development Forum. The forum includes a symposium on “The Role of Financial Inclusion in Achieving the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development”. Moreover, the meeting of the Advisory Council of AGFUND Microfinance Banks also conducted within the forum.

AGFUND has organized 4 development forums in the Manila, Montevideo , Rabat and Abu Dhabi, during which several seminars, workshops and training courses that address the roots of development were held. While the 2030 Agenda  enters into force, AGFUND has announced its vision and practical programs to support the Agenda as it actively contributes to the past Millennium Goals. During the symposium, as part of Prince Talal’s initiative to alleviate poverty in the developing countries, AGFUND is presenting the success of its project in establishing specialized banks that achieve financial inclusion, a project that has been implemented till now in nine countries (Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Palestine, Sierra Leone and Mauritania). AGFUND is also working to expand the horizons of its initiative to include Morocco, Tunisia, the Philippines, the West African Monetary and Economic Union (8 countries) and the member countries of the Central African Economic and Monetary Group (6 countries).
