The core beliefs of H.R.H. Prince Talal exist in his interest in humanitarian work.

Birth of H.R.H. Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz

H.R.H. Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz was born in the year 1353 Hijrah in Taïf (Saudi Arabia), where time and place had a profound influence shaping his personality and character. He had grown up with real love and passion for philanthropy and a solid belief in the importance of solidarity and compassion with the poor and the needy.

His Beliefs

The core beliefs of H.R.H. Prince Talal exist in his interest in humanitarian work. His outlook is based on his strong conviction that human development and protecting the dignity of disadvantaged citizens of the world, can only be achieved by investing in human beings. This philosophy is supportive to the continuous efforts exerted by international organizations to struggle for development in order to encounter the severe challenges facing millions of people in our world.

Prince Talal has dedicated his life and efforts to alleviate the suffering of poor groups in the developing nations, particularly women and children. The noble missions exerted by H.R.H. have identified him among the most leading philanthropists and humanitarians in the world, and one of the most distinguished Arab personalities known for their outstanding contributions in the field of development, particularly sustainable human development.

Thanks to his vision, AGFUND remained coping with the progress of the development but launching initiatives that address the main issues of development imbalances. So, when the UN announced the Millennium Goals at the outset of the 21st Century, the issues addressed by these goals were not new to AGFUND as it proceeded to tackle them since the middle of the 1990s. In 1997, Prince Talal launched the initiative to establish banks specialized in achieving financial inclusion for the poor. Afterwards, the “Millennium Goals” called for reducing poverty by 50% and efficiently taking part in solving other problems which mostly result from the repercussions of poverty; a matter which reveals the critical circle in which poverty captures the vulnerable groups.

When the UN launched the “Sustainable Development Agenda 2030” with the 17 goals and their 169 targets, AGFUND has gone far in the majority of the Agenda’s issues and goals.
